Hospital Visits
I had a position in a church in northern Illinois; I was supposed to help bring unity between the traditional worship service and the modern worship service - the church had really become two separate churches.
I remember how I would make hospital visits for the members of the church, knowing full well that some of the people I had been visiting had been bringing countless complaints against me to the Elder Board.
I would receive hate mail in my mail box from some of these members.
I found a great deal of comfort in these passages during my stay there. I thought about how I would genuinely pray for them with compassion and concern while they would burn with hatred towards me.
