Still our reality?

"These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God's" - Matthew 15:8-9 NTL

Jesus referencing Isaiah 29:13

Crazy verse don't you think? Even more radical considering this is a quote from Isaiah. It's almost as if at times this is humanities default. We can't help but do what is in our own flesh at times. Our words can honor God, but our hearts and actions go a different way.

Just shows how little we really know when it comes to the complexity and incredable design God created us with. We can't control our own bodies. It takes a holy spirit empowered person to even worship with a full heart. We can't do it. We can't teach God's words in our worship. We take what is flesh and human, and portray it as divine, and heavenly.

And then we wonder when the stereotypes of the church come from... It's us making those stereotypes!
