TV talk show lineage

If you heard that there was a family who had a line of liars, cheaters, a backstabber, a prostitute, an adulturer and murderer, an adulturess, a womanizer, a seductress, some who love a good fight, and a teenage mother, would it make you think twice about getting involved with them? What if this was your family? Would you be ashamed to call them your own?

Starting from Matthew 1:1 to 16, the Bible gives each one of those people a name and each one of them belonged to the lineage of Christ. So why would God choose a family so disfunctional for His son? Wouldn't you think He could've placed him in a family of scholars or at least a family who didn't have a murderer? Truth is, there is no better place for Him to have placed His Son. Jesus came into this world to save those very people. He came into this world to save us; to save me. If God could not use the broken, the hopeless, and the losers in this story of this life giving power of Jesus Christ, then there is no point of Him even coming to this world.

It is amazing that the New Testament starts out with years and years of the unworthiness of man, but in just one moment, at the sound of a baby's cry, it all changes! This is the beginning of an everlasting hope and future offered by the Son of God. The beginning of 27 books full of the saving grace He has to offer. Nothing will be the same from here on out!
