Christian Friendship
Having a real friend that has a real relationship with Christ is perhaps one of the toughest thing to have.
One reason is that it is hard to find a real friend that has a strong relationship with Christ. Although Christ has called us to be the body (the Church), the way we live our lives makes it difficult to connect with others on a personal level. Because of our busyness, our pride, and our desire to be independent, it's a real struggle sometimes to allow people to enter the deep personal caves of our lives.
The other issue with have a real friendship is that that person must be willing to hurt your feelings in order to make you more Christ-like. None of us behave perfectly according to the Word, that's why having a friend that will rebuke and correct you is vital. But because of our politically correct society, that has become taboo. I have seen countless friendships broken up because one friend tried to correct the thoughts or actions of another.
Let's be the friend that will sharpen the countenance of another. And let's search for a friend that will sharpen the countenance of us, no matter how hard that is.
