How do you fail?

How do You Fail?
Scripture reference: Psalms 73:26-(New International Reader's Version) My body and my heart may grow weak. God, you give strength to my heart. You are everything I will ever need.
(KJV)-My flesh and my heart fails: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
Meditation Song: Imagine Me, Kirk Franklin.

“Imagine me being free, trusting you [God] totally. Finally I can imagine me. Letting go of my past and, glad I got another chance and my heart can dance ‘cause I don’t have to read that page again.” These are a few lines of this week’s meditation song. This song is about a person with low self esteem basically finally imagining themselves being better. But I wanted to use this song this week and talk about; how do you fail?

What do I mean by ‘how’ do you fail? I mean do you fail and give up? Or do you fail and keep it pushing? When one way doesn’t work, do you turn around and go about it another way or do you just give up and start the pity party?

See, failure is inevitable in life. I mean you are just going to fail sometimes no matter how you slice it. It’s a natural part of life. It happens to all of us and especially to the best of us. We fail classes in school; we fail in relationships; we fail at life; sometimes we just fail.

It hurts to fail. It’s embarrassing. It’s hard. People make fun of you when you fail. Haters have great ammunition when you fail. Failure is one of the most painful feelings in the world because it affects your own personal goals and dreams. ‘This’ is something that you tried to do. No one made you, no one coerced you. You just decided to go after this goal and then you failed.

The scripture above talks about flesh and heart failing but God being all we need. The failure the scripture was speaking of here is in the natural sense; like getting old. But I want to use it metaphorically and say though your flesh fails, though your heart fails; God is all you need.

Let’s consider you as “flesh.” It’s the largest organ on your body anyway so let’s say it’s you. Your flesh fails by making wrong choices. It fails by going places it should not, thinking things it shouldn’t. Your flesh fails by being attracted to the wrong types of people and things. Its flesh and it fails sometimes. The Bible says that we were born in sin and shaped in iniquity. Yea, your flesh sucks! LOL

Your heart is the emotional part of you. Doesn’t it fail you sometime? Don’t you feel feelings for people that you shouldn’t? Don’t you fall in love with too many fools? Just like in the physical sense of the word, your heart fails; sometimes we have spiritual congenital heart failure! This thing just breaks down on us! And we can’t get around it sometimes, it just happens!

But the question still remains: how do you fail? When you make those bad choices and your flesh is weak, when you fail in life, how do you fail?

I had a great revelation this weak. I’m a failure are failing! May sound like it’s a good thing but it’s not. I’ve failed many times in life—Lord more than I care to count—but the problem is when I failed, I’ve given up. I’ve moved on to other things or put that in particular goal on the back burner because, well I failed. I’m not good at this whole failure thing.

See, I’m a visionary and visionaries see the big picture but we struggle sometimes seeing the whole picture. Visionaries are not prepared for failure, we only plan for the vision that we see. Especially when you have faith like me and believe that what I see is going to come to pass no matter what! It will come to pass no matter what, but you’ve got to work this thing! It won’t happen by itself and many times it won’t happen until you fail a few times.

It’s okay to fail! Pastor Jamal Bryant preached a sermon called “I hope you fail.” Failure is only a failure when you cease to keep trying to achieve your goal. Failure eliminates one more path to your success! That thing just blessed me! If you learn from your failure then you won’t take that road again, thus eliminating one of the paths you tried to take to your success!

Don’t be afraid of failing. Be afraid of not trying again after you fail. Be afraid of giving up on your goals and dreams. The devil is a master at making you believe your failure is the end result. It’s not. God has the final say. Period, point blank!

The enemy is a defeated foe according to the word but HE KEEPS ON TRYING! I mean what kind of fool knows that he’s going to lose but keeps on trying to win? Well you can learn from the enemy in this sense. He’s tested you 100’s of times in your life and you keep overcoming, yet he still keeps trying! You better learn from this fool and work towards your goals and dreams even when you’ve failed over and over and over again!
You ever heard the saying, “you’re crazy as a road lizard!” It’s an old saying that you may not know what it means unless you know how a road lizard acts. A road lizard is down south and all they do is run across roads. They run back and forth over roads. They saw their best friend get ran over by the semi but yet these fools keep going back and forth over the road! That’s just crazy! You better get a road lizard mentality about your dreams and goals!

When folks look at you, they should say, “she crazy! She ain’t gon’ be able to do that!” They should think you’re crazy as a road lizard when going after your goals and dreams. They should be saying, “Look at this fool! He keeps on trying to do that and he has failed at a hundred times!”

Don’t let failure stop you from moving forward in your dreams and goals! You’re not too fat to lose the weight you been trying to lose! You’re not too old to go after that business. It’s not too late to stop that nasty and expensive smoking habit you have. I know you’ve failed in the past but today is a new day! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; you get 365 chances per year to make your life better and make changes! Today is one. This is your 99th chance, what will you do with it? Monday, April 10th will be your 100th chance. What will you do with it?

You don’t have to wait for the New Year to make a resolution. Make your resolution today that you will be a success in failing! When you fail, you will get back up again and try it all over. You’re only a failure when you continue to fail and never succeed.
So like Jamal Bryant said, I want you to fail! I want you to fail, fail, fail and fail some more! It builds character, endurance and strength. So I’m talking to you who have failed at so many things in life; will you fail at failing too? Or will you get your “road lizard” on and become a success at failure?

Now, HOW DO YOU FAIL?

Reach anytime, and forward this to anyone that you feel would be blessed by it.
