The Children of Israel recorded in the 78 Psalm and Exodus cried out against God saying that God cannot provide food or water for them in the wilderness. The Lord burned with anger but nevertheless fed them with the food of angles and brought birds to them. But while the Hebrew’s were eating their fill the Lord in his anger struck down the strongest men. Now my question for us is, “how often do we bicker in our hearts against the Lord?”
How often do we complain against the Lord saying, “He cannot provide for us in this economy!?” I know I may have said something in my heart of the sort or something similar. However, I have no excuse for such ridiculous expressions for I have the Holy Scriptures to read. I am just as guilty as the Jew who witnessed the things of God and rebelled. I know God can pour open the heavens and rain down blessings upon us.
So why should we fear and rebel against the Lord in our hearts? If God feeds the birds of the air, and provides the rain to water the crops, then why should we not trust Him? Let us not turn and rebel against the Lord like the Jews, but let us learn from their mistakes and plead to God for provision.
God,
I just want to say please forgive me for my rebellion and my lack of faith at times. I know You have just cause to destroy me as your children who rebelled against You. Be merciful for I am a fool! I desire Your ways but I am weak, I desire fellowship with Your people but I don’t make time for them. I try to mentor Your youth but believe that my example disqualifies me. Sin lurks for me at every street corner, internet sign on, billboards, and most devastating of all in my heart. I am weak in leadership in regards to my duty to my country and to my family. I am spineless before those who use Your name as a curse word and lack the courage to correct the issue for it is so prevalent. I ask for provision though I do not deserve it, and I ask for courage to do what is right though those who deceive are better off than me. Teach me love all God, in Jesus name be merciful, Amen.
