Margin

Waiting is considered bad customer service in this day and age. Your instant reward to do business with retailers is fast service. Even when you call, you get an automated voice estimating 'your wait time'. No one likes to wait — if you are stuck in a traffic jam — it is more than the cars that heat up.
I thought about it this evening because going to work there was accident and I had to wait for an hour before traffic moved and then coming home more wait, more traffic. Tonight before I sleep, the words in Psalm 27 tell me to 'wait on the Lord' and then I realized that waiting is really a good thing. You see, I live a margin-less life where there is activity upon activity with no space in-between so I hurry from here to there and back again. I tend to add more and more without taking away anything.
Waiting slows me down so I can hear God. He can speak to me in His 'still small voice' that is more powerful than any force of nature.

Dear Friend, when you wait today, ask God to quiet your heart as He allows the pace to slow. Ask Him to speak to you. Ask Him to put margin back in your life. Find the great joy in waiting for our Lord.
