A different look on John 3:16

As a believer raised in the church, the John 3:16 reference became more of a cliche saying rather than a personal message to me. But when someone made a cross reference between John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 13 (or the Love chapter as some are familiar with) and how it changes things a bit, it opened my eyes to something new.

When I read John 3:16 and I ask myself, "what is love?" I go to 1 Corinthians 13 and remind myself what love is:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs," I love that! "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails..."
~1 Corinthians 13:1-8

When I replace, "For God so loved the world..." with what 1 Corinthians defines love as, I have a new appreciation for that verse. But not just that verse; the message contained in it.

I hope that this opens the eyes of someone else and how they might view the Word. I know it opened my eyes (and continues to reopen my eyes and heart).
