04b - An Outpouring Of Power And Grace

The Lord answers the disciples' prayers “big time” – and great power was given to the Apostles for the purpose of witnessing. The power was not given to them – for themselves – but for the glory of the Lord. This was what Jesus was trying to instill in Peter at the foot-washing ceremony. If Peter couldn’t get past the humility and pride issues – he would take the glory. It appears that Jesus was successful in Peter’s training. How appropriate it is that the word “grace” is used in verse 33. Remember “grace” is getting what is not deserved. The miracles through the Apostles were not “deserved” and not “earned”. They were simply an act of God’s grace.
