lame sacrifices
What is the Crown Jewel of heaven worth? What is the gift of salvation, forgiveness and sonship in the kingdom worth? What could be given back on this side of heaven? Yet in this passage the people of God were trying to inherit a kingdom here and the kingdom in heaven. God says this is unacceptable. To receive Him and His kingdom means forfeiting the kingdom here. In the sacrifices of animals to keep Him first and keep their hearts in line they began giving the least instead if the best. How convicting. How often does God get my best? What have my "sacrifices" looked like lately? My time in prayer, the word, the way I spend money, my appetite.....what type of sacrifice? You are God and You deserve the best. Let today be the day that I return to You and You to me.
