At Work
Too many times pastors or church leaders covet other churches and what other pastors have. They do not fall in love with their own church...their own flock...they fall in love with the flock of others. They imitate the style, structure and strategy of others churches not because they are influenced...but because they want to replicate the same success or same kind of ministry. The spiritual shallowness and Scriptural immaturity in this way of thinking is beyond measure. God did not call pastors and church leaders to copy other pastors and church leaders...He called us to go reach the specific area or people He desires for His Kingdom.
Peter was called to reach the Jews. Paul was called to reach the Gentiles. There were times this took them into the same geographic locations. There were times when Peter's ministry would be more successful than Paul's...and vice versa. But in this set of Scriptures you can see that Paul took comfort in knowing that his ministry and flock was not Peter's ministry and flock. He took comfort in knowing that while he was doing everything he could to spread the Gospel among the Gentiles, Peter was doing everything he could to reach the Jews. That is a Kingdom mindset...that every church...every pastor...every church leader...and every congregational flock...should be following their own path...the path that God set before them...to reach as many people for the Kingdom as possible. If we all try to be like the perceived successful church down the street...then a lot of people will not see the gates of Heaven.
