God's Promises and Seeking Him

Numbers 1, 2 Acts 24

S: Numbers 1:1 Then the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

O: A few simple observations here, God spoke, in the wilderness, on the second year after leaving Egypt. Moses continued to seek God in all that he did. I think that's pretty amazing. I mean after all that had happened and all the miracles that he did (by God's power), he still had the humility to seek God. If it were me, I think I might have started believing that I was the one doing all these great things and stop seeking God altogether.  Update: Also that it had already been 2 years since they left Egypt, I might have given up getting to the promised land and tell the nation that right here is good enough and then start doing my own thing.

A: I am so glad that I am me and Moses is Moses. I could not handle all that responsibility. I am also grateful for this lesson that Moses is teaching me. That God may make you a promise, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen tomorrow, or next week, or next month. And in this case for Israel, it was two years and counting. For the things God promises me, I need to continue to hold on to those promises, however I still need to seek Him along the journey...no matter where, no matter how far away it seems, or how close it seems, no matter how long it's taking, seek Him.

P: God I am weak and lazy and prideful and so many more things. Help me to stay close to you always. I want to seek you, be with you through out the journey and not just look to you when I'm in trouble. Love you, Lord. Amen.
