IT'S THE BLOOD.
In my reading this morning; the hidden reason for the shedding of blood in the Old Testament is revealed in the New (all the more reason to read a selection from both in my daily devotions.)
In the tagged verse in Leviticus; The LORD says, For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul."
Then in Matthew 27 we read of the atoning death of HIS Son, our Savior JESUS CHRIST. The fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets! His blood poured out on the alter of the cross; paying the price for the sins of the world.
Oh what an amazing GOD we have, what amazing love and mercy HE has show!
The price of our sin paid in full, HIS righteousness given to us, our sins forgiven; forever covered (Gen. 3:21!)
Then by HIS grace we are justified and given what we do not deserve; life everlasting with HIM, a new life in CHRIST!
Oh how I love my LORD, JESUS; my GOD and my King!
