something I never knew about Jesus
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, John 11:6-5 TNIV
When I read this passage at first it almost seems as to make no sense. Jesus loves them and hears that Lazarus is sick but doesn’t immediately react and go to be with them or go and heal Him. He just stays where he is two more days with no sense of urgency. Well, we know the end result of the story is that Jesus ends up raising Lazarus from the dead and what I have always loved about this story is that it was because Jesus really did love them that He stayed. They had already seen Jesus heal the sick but had never seen Him raise the dead. They experienced something new about Jesus that they had never known.
This reminds me today that when I feel like God is not answering my prayers or showing me things I’ve seen before it’s because He wants to reveal something new to me. I need to just remain faithful and see what he will do in my life and expect to see something brand new!
God, thank you for once again reminding me of how you work in my life and the life of others. You are truly amazing!
