Nehushtan
The words come together as "bronze, snake, and unclean" (from the NIV Study Bible).
An object that was used as a tool for one moment in time became something that literally they would worship when they became ill.
Interestingly enough, they could have burned incense to the Lord and asked God for healing, but instead they worshipped and begged this snake.
Lord, forgive us when we are prone to give more honor to something you have done in the past, rather than seeking a new experience of You; for leaning on a moment we felt your presence and relying on the memories of that experience to get us through what we are going through now.
Father, help us to break that old snake and move on to fresh experiences of You!
