John 5:7 human solution vs god solution
I relate so much to the man at the gate. The only thing more hopeless than his problem was his solution.
When Jesus asks him if he wants to be well, the man lists all the ways that the human solution has let him down. "I can't get well because..." and the irony is that even if he could get in the pool, it would not solve his problem. The human solution let him down two-fold.
Jesus offered the man a new solution. One that did not require jumping through pointless, hopeless hoops. It simply required direct contact with Him. A God-solution.
And it all started with a question - a calling to a new future. Do you want to be well?
I think Jesus asks me this question every day and most days I am like that man wallowing in his human limitations instead of just saying, "Yes!" being touched by God and picking up his mat and walking.
I need to always remember that God is not limited by the problems I see. He has a whole, new way. I just need to obey.
