David wrote this psalm wrote this psalm a thousand years before Jesus! Yet it is such an accurate description of the crucifixion!
In fiction, there is a technique called “foreshadowing”, where the author earlier in the story tells something which will echo with a later part of the story. This is possible because the author knows where they had planned the story to go.
God is the Author of the Story of Redemption. He knew He was going to send His Son even from Genesis 3:15 when He said that the Serpent (Satan) would bruise the heel of Seed of the woman, but He would bruise his head.
We can trust that God knows what He is doing. He is not surprised by any turn of events – for example, He knew that ben Ali and Mubarak were going to fall; He knows if Assad, Qadaffi, Saleh, Al Khalifa, Guelleh, and, yes, Najib will fall or not, too.
He’s got the whole world in His hands! I don’t know about tomorrow, but I know Who holds my hand!
Father, help us to trust You even in times of uncertainty. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
