true devotion.

Wow! The kind of commitment the early church showed to the Lord and to the body is amazing! I’ve always imaged the early church being a small group of devoted believers. It always seemed easy that a small group could be of one mind and have all things in common . . . but taking a closer look at this passage the “small group” I had imagined included 3,000+ believers!! That is amazing and a true testament to the power of the Holy Spirit. If we were all so willing to submit to the Spirit and Word of God I believe, we too, could be just as unified as the early church.

Today we (or at least I) are so distracted (by life, work, facebook, blackberrys, etc) that it seems impossible to imagine devoting ourselves continually to the Word, fellowship, and prayer . . . but this passage is a testament to the fruit that sort of devotion brings and an encouragement to seek such devotion!
