Hurt God?

"They will recognize how hurt I am by their unfaithful hearts and lustful eyes that long for their idols." NLT

It's hard to think that God can be "hurt" by us, His creation. And yet here we clearly see that He was very hurt by the unfaithful actions of those He loved so much. I guess it only makes sense, to be hurt deeply by someone you have to love them deeply. If you didn't love them, it wouldn't matter what they did. So, since God loves us so much, He can also be hurt deeply by us. Maybe that's why the apostle Paul implored us not to "grieve the Holy Spirit."

Lord, may I never hurt You through my thoughts, words or deeds. And please forgive me for the times I have. Thank you for loving me so much that You allow Yourself to be hurt by me. I am amazed at that kind of love.
