Free Will Scripture
For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son...that WHOSOEVER believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. "
The WHOSOEVER represents free will. I used to believe that once we accepted Jesus as our personal Savior that God would work, work, work with us to secure our entrance into His Kingdom. Now I am not so sure.....and this is after raising 5 kids. I am now thinking that there is much more human responsibility than we want to believe. And I am seeing more and more scripture that points to the fact that if we DO NOT behave in a manner worthy of our calling....that we will not be taken out at the time of the great tribulation of the earth. It is an extra challenge for those of us who live in a society where words don't mean anything and actions are seen as ideas instead of responsibility.
For instance, when John says that if we say we love God but don't have love for our brother...he says we are lying and that we can't love God at all like we say we do.
Jesus was so concerned about people having to spend an eternity in hell that He actually said that if our eyes or ears or hands or feet are having a tendency to do things that would bring us to hell...that it would be better to cut them off then to go to hell.
For an interesting presentation of personal responsibility that is sobering but worth the challenge of reading it....google search '7 Columbian Youths Heaven Hell' and read about these teenagers' experience.
Anyway..in answer to your question of a 'free will' scripture.....John 3:16 is always a good one.
