The process of righteousness - every day counts

SCRIPTURE - Romans 1:17
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life." (NLT)

OBSERVATION
God makes us righteous through our faith, and the Word of God shows us how. It is interesting how this passage says "accomplished from start to finish by faith", which in NKJV translates as "the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith". This indicates to me that a process of faith and not a singular instantaneous event of faith is required to make us righteous. Though ultimately it is God who changes us, it is through our faith that God is given license to operate - it's through our active belief in Him from day to day that He is able to have His way in us.

APPLICATION
How important it is then to allow myself to be examined by the Word, and how crucial it is for me to respond to His Word and the prompting of the Spirit with my faith. Every. Day.

I am justified by faith in Christ through faith, my ticket to eternity with God is booked. God has spared no expense to have me saved, yet there is still a work of righteousness He is wanting to complete in me every day! He is not finished with me yet, so in the meantime waiting for the day He comes is not some passive interlude before eternity. His love compels me to walk closer to Him in faith, and it astounds me that His righteousness can be revealed through even a broken sinner like me.

There is a purpose why I am still here, and from faith to faith, I can count on His righteousness to have it's way in me and in the lives around me.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus I thank you for your Word is true, revealing who You are and who I truly am in You. Teach me Lord to walk daily in faith with You with such purpose and conviction, allowing You to have your work of righteousness completed in me every day, every hour every minute. Though I know I will fail and fall miserably at times Lord, but I trust that because of Your unending love and through a lifetime of walking by faith, You will finish what you began in me. Help me Lord to be faithful with this life that I live for You... one day at a time, as I go by this way only once. In Jesus' name. Amen.
