Your life reflects the wickedness in your heart and your actions are terrible, BUT you turn away from that and instead keep God's statutes and do what is right....well then OK, you'll live and God will forgive you. Fair enough

On the other hand, you are considered righteous and do the right thing, but turn away from that righteousness and do the things wicked people do.....well then OK, you're gonna die for your sins. Fair enough.

God lays out the options for us and tells us the rules that we need to play by and the consequences that follow. Fair enough.

So these are the options. Here's the guidelines. We can see that God's own preference is that we would turn from wickedness and live rather than die in our wickedness. The choice is ours. What are you going to do. God is letting us decide how things end. Fair enough.
