i just find this literal translation to be quite revealing and for contemplation as we seek to understand this passage:

Literal Translation: "But divisions of favors there are, but the same spirit; and divisions of services there are, and the same lord. And divisions of operations there are, the but same it is, God, the one operating all things in all."

interesting how the greek uses favors, services, and operations in place of gifts, ministries/services, and effects/working.
