Very Precious to God

Scripture

And the man said to me, "Daniel, you are very precious to God, so listen carefully to what I have to say to you. Stand up, for I have been sent to you." When he said this to me, I stood up, still trembling.
Then he said, "Don't be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer.

Observation

Daniel had been in mourning for three whole weeks. He had eaten no rich food, drunk any wine or used any fragrant lotions.

One day, Daniel saw a vision, a man with a body that looked like a precious gem, dressed in linen clothing with a belt of pure gold. His face flashed like lightning, his eyes flamed like torches. His voice roared like a multitude of people.

Daniel’s strength left him, his face deathly pale. When the man spoke, Daniel fainted. Just them, a hand touched him and lifted him, the voice saying, “Daniel, you are very precious to God, so listen carefully... since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard”.

Application

Am I precious to God? Am I someone of great value to God, not to be wasted or treated carelessly? Indeed I am! God loved the world so much that He gave his one and only Son, that we would not perish but have eternal life. I am the apple of His eye!

And when I humble myself before God and pray, He hears, He listens and He sends an answer. The answer may not come via a heavenly being as for Daniel, but it does come. The answer may not be what or how I want. But coming from all-knowing God, wise beyond measure to whom I am precious, I can know that it is part of all things working for my good. I can trust His heart because I am very precious to Him.

Prayer

Lord, your love is amazing, to think that I am very precious to You. I need not fear no matter what life may bring, for my life is in your hand. May I listen carefully to what You say to me, and live boldly knowing that You hear and answer my prayers.
