Leave it to God

Both Jeremiah and Uriah were messengers of God having to preach judgment and repentance. Both of them fulfilled their God-given task faithfully. Both of them were threatened to be killed.

But here is the difference: After his last call to repent he just stood there and said: "I am in your hands". He knew it was God's will to preach "bad news" so God would also care for him after delivering the message (see chapter 1). Actually, he knew himself in God's hands rather than their hands.

Uriah did a good job in preaching, but after facing death he fled to Egypt (an image of the world). He did not trust God that he could save him. Reminds me of Abraham going there in the famine.

Of course I have no idea what it means having the fear to be killed. I would probably run away as well. But I think the point of this story is that if we do God's job, then we can also trust him in the consequences. If God asks me to share my faith and I do it, I can leave it to God what people do with me or think about me.

I admire Daniel's friends, Paul or Stephen, who just made a stand for God and did not worry about what's next. Let's have the same attitude: just do it and leave it to God :)
