What's In Your Lunchbox

Right place, right time. Those instances in my life continue to amaze me. But have you ever wondered why? Some say karma, some say luck, and others say God.

I tend to favor it being God at work. But why? Now that is a new way of questioning. Most of the time you hear about, or maybe you have done, people questioning God.

Why did I get sick? Why did that happen to me? Why does my life have to be this way? Why me God, why? So instead of asking the why me question, ask God the why me question. Do what? Ask God why he has, or had, you in that place at that time.

If you have ever heard of, or even read, the story of the boy with the 5 loaves and 2 fish, maybe you've asked this question too. What if that boy didn't show up that day? What if he decided to sleep in, and watch cartoons? What if his parents thought that his little league game was more important than listening to some man from Nazareth speak?

Okay, maybe there weren't cartoons on Saturday morning over 2,000 years ago, but the question still stands. What if that boy didn't show up with his lunchbox? Better yet, what if you weren't in the position you are in right now?

Before God provides for you, he positions you. His provisions for your life, are based on the atmospheres and arenas that he has placed you in. So yes, there is a reason that you are where you are, there is a a purpose.

So the boy with the 5 loaves and 2 fish was positioned, so that God could provide a miracle to the people that came to hear him speak. You see the disciples were done. They were tired, they were hungry, it had been a long day, and they wanted to go and rest. So they began to tell Jesus to think of the people, they told him that it was getting late, and that he shouldn't keep them out much longer.

As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food." -Matthew 14:15

But Jesus had already positioned a provision, and it came carrying a lunchbox with something inside.

Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." "We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered. "Bring them here to me," he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. -Matthew 14:16-21

God will never give you his provision for you, until he has positioned you.
