My Sprinkler-System
There are some sprinkler systems that probably do more damage than good. Usually, it's because sprinkler heads have broken off, causing ginormous geysers that flood the landscape or they're not calibrated right and they're pointing in the wrong direction or the timer is malfunctioning, causing them to go off irregularly, if at all.
We all need to be watered and not just with any 'ol water, but LIVING water! We need to water others with this same Living Water, the kind that springs out from the Word of God, that they may be sanctified and grown to maturity!
But let's be careful to not lose our "heads"! That creates a "geyser-gospel". It's unrestrained water, delivered with A LOT of force, and producing nothing but a muddy flood.
Also, it's pretty important to be pointing in the right direction. A sprinkler turned 180 degrees from the soil onto the sidewalk seems far from effective. Where are you pointed? Where is your God-given "greenhouse"? What ministry does he point you to?
Finally, there is something to be said about the watering cycle. Am I consistent with my calling? Where am I irregular and unreliable in living out my calling? Am I watering myself and others with the LIVING Water in a way that is effective?
Let's remember: Yes, you and I get to turn the sprinklers on, but ultimately, God is the one who causes GROWTH!
