Matt. 5:13-16 Salt & Light
The greek words for salt and light are hallas and phos. I have these tattoed in greek on my wrists to be a daily reminder that Jesus referred to us, his followers, as the salt of the earth and the light of the world. It's so easy to forget this and just blend in with the world, yet just before these verses, Jesus says that we are blessed when we are persecuted and downtrodden for claiming his name. Too often we silently cast off your name in the moment so that we can avoid seasoning the conversation or showing others the truth. Oh that we would remember to be the hallas and phos in our world, in our work places and in our homes & neighborhoods.
