Glory for the Story

How many times have you read a story, or watched a movie, already knowing the outcome? If it's a suspenseful, thrilling, murder/mystery, then you're probably screaming at the character as they make the wrong moves. Because you know that if they go through that door, nothing good is going to happen.
For me personally, this has been happening as my wife and I have been reading through the book of Genesis. The book of Genesis is at the beginning of the Bible, just past the table of contents. In it you'll read about the story of creation, Noah, Abraham & Isaac, Joseph, and much more. But the story that has been screaming...
NO DON'T DO IT!
It's the story of Joseph & Jacob. If you've never read it, you should. It's better than any thriller/drama you've ever read or watched. It begins in Genesis 37. But the part that has me on the edge of my seat, screaming at the characters in the story not to do it, can be found in Genesis 46.
Okay so you've read that story of Joseph & Jacob, and you still don't understand why or how it's so suspenseful. What does it for me, is this verse:
And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!” “Here I am,” he replied. “I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. -Genesis 46:2-3
This is so significant, because if you have read or know anything about Old Testament scripture, Jacob leaving the land of Caanan to come to Egypt isn't going to be a good thing for the future offspring of Jacob. The end of Joseph & Jacob's story is the beginning of Moses and the Exodus. Why would God be so positive and persuasive to have Jacob move his entire clan out of the the future promise land? Because he can, and because he knows the end of the story.
What story are you in right now? Is it currently a thriller, comedy, maybe your living a lie, so it's fiction? Whatever you are going through right now, know that it is for a reason and a purpose. God knows all along what the plan is, but allows the here & now to take place so that we can give him the glory for the story in the end.
What story could you give God the glory for, in your life? Comment below...
