Welcoming strangers

Paul was about to reach Rome after a very exhausting and dangerous trip. He almost died in the sea, he was threatened to be killed and survived a bite by a viper.

Now these fellow-Christians, who probably never met Paul before, come to see him and greet him. Paul was encouraged and strengthened by their welcome, although he was already very firm in his faith.

What about strangers coming to your church or home? Do you realize that they are there? Do you greet them? Do you actually talk to them and try to let them feel welcome?
These people here actively stepped out and approached Paul.

When I visit other churches, whether they are small or big, there is often the same phenomena: the church members prefer to be in their own group where they know each other. Talking to strangers cost effort and may not be so harmonic. But when even great men of faith like Paul need the encouragement of others, how much more the insecure and unknown guest!

Let's treat strangers like you want to be treated: Welcoming them so that they may feel the warmth and love of the Christian body.
