You Can't Coast

"Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able."

That word "strive" also means struggle and contend for the victory, like wrestling. In other words, while salvation is definitely free, it only comes by wrestling with our response to God. He calls us to recognize our sin and repent. That is definitely not an easy thing. Even people who do "all the right things" like attend church and read their Bibles and pray and be kind, etc may be missing out on the one thing God has called us to do and that's struggle through our sin to respond to Him in repentance and thus enter the narrow door.

Too many people are just coasting through Christianity doing the all the right things EXCEPT truly turning from their sin to Jesus Christ. We really need to wrestle with our sin and selfishness to come to the point of repentance. Those who do...welcome to the kingdom. Those who don't...they're coasting right past the door.
