The well known Stranger

Try being the guy in the room everyone knows very well, has met you many times before. Knows your mom and dad, your buddies, where you hang out at, where you have gone, what you have done, and knows how important you are, but then, act like they don't know you.

How often have I known the right thing to do, the good thing to say, where to turn to instead of turning to sin, who to ask for help versus doing it all myself, and I have not looked to the very Savior standing in the room, who has been there all along and willing to help.

How often have we all made Jesus Christ the well-known stranger in our lives and tried to act like He isn't there?

How often have we turned to self reasoning, sin, compromise, and the issues the world and darkness present as our answer, versus turning to The Answer?

It is like Jesus is standing there at the party we shouldn't be at, where we are compromising our integrity, our witness and testimony, just to fit in.

It is like he is with the man or woman who is choosing to pursue the relationship that is not with the spouse they committed themselves with and to, but instead of asking for the strength to say "No" and walk away, they give in, in weakness.

It is like Jesus the firefighter is standing right there as our circumstances are on fire and burning out of control and we are trying to beat the fire out with tired arms and a handkerchief when Jesus is standing there with a massive water hose, but we choose to ignore Him and try to fix what He could very easily, ourselves.

Throughout the Bible God had the hearts of many hardened to the truth and they looked away and ignored what was apparent, but since we know the Truth, what is our excuse?

Is our excuse our ego? Our selfishness? Our resistance to change and allow Christ into our lives? Our thinking WE have the answers instead of THEE Answer?

After reading the Bible in 90 days, OK it took me 94 days, but I am excited to go back through the New Testament one chapter a day, and REALLY understand the Stranger in the room. The presence we all feel, that presence that is always there, and the presence that saves.
