Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you....

I've heard people say they sinned because the devil made them do it. Others say I just keep sinning and don't seem to be able to help myself.

The answer is in this verse. We need to do something and then God will fight our battles and give us the victory through His strength.

We need to submit ( to give over or yield to the power or authority of another ) to God. We need to rely on God's strength and authority over the devil.

We need to resist ( to make a stand or make efforts in opposition ) the devil. When we do, he realizes we are relying on God and making a choice to follow God's ways, and he will run from us.

We need to draw nigh ( near; approaching ) to God. God, in turn, will draw near to us. When God is near, satan doesn't want to be anywhere close.
