Listening to God, Start of Faith
If I was about to be married and found out that my beloved was suddenly with child it would take a lot of convincing that faithfulness wasn't betrayed. Joseph heard the words in a dream that this pregnancy was divine. One of the first statements that Joseph believed was that not only was his son to be named Jesus, but he was to pay for the sin of the world.
Joseph choose to believe in what he heard and started to let faith in God lead his family. One might argue that having an angel of the Lord show up to you might change one's faith. Either way, advantage goes to trusting in what Joseph heard. Listening to God and acting on what we hear lead to God directing our steps in life. Joseph continued to listen and moved his family away from danger in Bethlehem and into Egypt and then returned into Nazarene. God has a plan for me and my family. It starts with listening to God and having enough faith to act on what God says. Our job is to be listening for his messages in the bible, leaders, and in the unexpected (angels, words, etc).
A family's entire direction was changed on faith. What does God want to change in my family today? Where does he want me to go because He knows what danger or awesome life are up ahead?
