God Sponges
Scripture says to be changed or converted to be like a child. In 1 Corinthians we are told that we put away childish things, so I dare to say is is not about being childish. It is a rebirth. A restarting. A clearing of who we are and what we thought we knew.
Think of a child. They are like sponges, taking in everything around them. Starting their path to become like what they see and hear. Once they start to mature they are usually pretty set in their ways. They need good example when they are young so they know what is the best path. Once they are on the correct path they will then show the same behaviors and patterns of what they filled themselves with as a child.
I believe Jesus is telling us to become like children so that we can fill ourselves with the things that are good and pure. Growing to be filled with His holy word and showing everyone His gracious love. A new start. A fresh beginning. A disciple of Christ.
Do you need to start over as a little child and remove some of you learned habits and falsehoods? If you are mature or maturing, are you doing so with the best? What is the best?... Well it is Jesus! Know Jesus you get to know the Father. The Father waits for us, His children, to come and be filled with His righteousness.
