Accept what God Allows
WRITTEN FOR MY WEEKLY WORD MINISTRY ON www.dbrandoncampbell.com. To join email us at newvministries@gmail.com
This has got to be one of the hardest things to do as a Christian is to accept the things that God allows to happen in our lives. You get to thinking about the things that have happened to you and the things that happen around you and you wonder, “How can a loving God allow this to happen?” How can God allow such bad things to happen to good people?
I still wonder it sometimes when I see natural disasters. We’re in the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and thinking back on the things that happened to those people brings me to tears. I’ve had to ask God, “why?” Some people say it was a corrupt city, like a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. I say people who say that ARE COMPLETE FOOLS! What did the little baby who died because of lack of food have to do with people’s unrighteousness? The toddler that drowned in the flood; what did he do to deserve this?
You may wonder how does God allow you to be molested, or raped. How does God allow to be so poor and live in such a horrible neighborhood? How can he allow you to be born into this family; with these people?! What kind of God allows children to starve to death? What kind of God lets people get shot down in the street for no apparent reason? Some times I’ve become an agnostic-Christian thinking about these things.
So I’m writing this WEEKLY WORD for you. I’m writing to you who asks the questions and don’t get the answers. I may not have all of the answers either but I do have a few and I’d like to share them with you.
First of for all of you who may be in ministry or just trying to do the right thing and it seems like the bad folks are the ones getting ahead; let me share with you what Paul encouraged us with in Galatians 6:9 to be not weary in well doing, for in due season you will reap a harvest if you faint not. In other words, don’t give up. Don’t give in. Keep your integrity and keep holding on. YOU WILL REAP WHAT YOU SOW! And you know what? So will those other people who ain’t doing right! Keep sowing good seed. Don’t worry about those who sow bad seed; it all comes back!
Now back to you asking the questions; be encouraged. I know how it feels to have a bunch of bad things happen to you and you try and keep the faith. Then you ask some church people to help you not feel that way anymore and all they tell you to do is pray, read some scriptures and seek the Lord. How do you seek He that you’re having a hard time believing in? They tell you not to question God. FOOLISHNESS!!! I ask questions of everyone I’ve ever been in a relationship with, including and especially God!
You must learn to accept what he allows. Everything is apart of his master plan. Question him when you feel like you need answers but accept his answers. You’ve got to know that everything he allows, and everything he lets happen to you and in this world is for a purpose. Everything happens for a reason. Yes even your rape or molestation was for a purpose. What purpose? Maybe to help someone who may not have gotten through that which you went through without you.
Remember that you overcome by the words of your testimony (Revelation 12:11). And so will others. They will overcome their trials and their tribulations because of your testimony to them. That’s why you went through what you went through; to be a testimony to someone else!
Someone needs you! Not just the preacher, not just the pastor, they need you! They need you to overcome and share HOW you overcame with them so that they can make it through. That’s why you’ve got to make it and you’ve got to tell somebody about it!
You’ve got to learn that God’s ways and thoughts are not yours Isaiah 55:8 and he knows what he’s doing. He knows exactly what he’s doing and he doesn’t need your help in doing it! Let God be God! You were bought with a price; therefore you’re now property of Christ Jesus, risen Lord and savior! He’s big and bad and don’t need your help! He got this! Haiti, Indonesia, Katrina, Tsunami, earthquake—all come subject to him and his authority. If he allowed it to happen, you’ve got to learn how to accept it because he’s God and it’s his prerogative. But he has a purpose.
God is the author and finisher of our faith Hebrews 12:2! He has the final say in all matters! So even when bad things happen to us, God having a purpose for it will turn it around and make it a testimony for you. You’ll be stronger because of what you’ve had to deal with. Some of you are body builders in the spirit!
So even when you don’t understand it; accept it. Even when it makes you upset to have to deal with it; accept it. Even when it doesn’t make sense that you have to go through this; accept it because he’s got it. He’s in complete control! And whatever he allows has a purpose; so when you accept what he allows, you accept his purpose for your life!
