"Count me in"
"Count me in" is an idiom that is often spoken which means include me in your activity or plan. People may make this statement about anything from an activity to a food purchase. The point of the statement is to clearly communicate to others that you want to be included in what they are doing.
Numbers 1 records God commanding Moses to count every male twenty years of age and older who is able to serve in the army. The children of Israel are in wilderness of Sinai. God has miraculously rescued them from Egyptian bondage and now they are moving toward the promise land. God instructs Moses to take a detailed list of every male. Every name is recorded under every tribe. Each person therefore on the list is now accountable and responsible to do their part in carrying out God's plan. There are 603,550 men whose names are recorded on the list who are able to serve in the army. Each counted and therefore accountable to participate in God's program.
Can you say to God, "count me in"? We are indeed at war. Ephesians 6:10-18 reminds us of the battle that is raging. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 and 2 Timothy 2:3-4; 4:7 reinforce the warfare imagery for the believer. We are at war. We can't afford to go AWOL (absent without leave). Numbers 1:54 says "The Israelites did all this just as the Lord commanded Moses". Are we willing to participate in God's plan?
If so, say to God today. "Count me in".
