Why is this account so different to John

Comparing this account with Pilate from the text in Matt, Mark & Luke we see a very big difference in John. In all three Jesus says one response, however in John he responds very, very differently and has an entire dialogue with Pilate.

Verse 14 in Matt even goes out of it's way to make a point about Him not responding to a "single charge"...
