Re: How much faith?

Have a look at John 12. Even after all the miracles Jesus did right before the people's eyes, there were those who refused to believe.

The question is: are there miracles that we see today and still refuse to believe?
Ever see a baby being born (human or animal)? Just a matter of biology and evolution some might say. Look again at the complexity and wonder of even a single cell. An accident of evolution? Again, read John 12.

What about healing the sick, raising the dead. Do these things still happen today? The answer is yes. There are documented events of these miracles.
You have to search them out. NBC or CBS are not going to report on these things. Even still the greatest miracle could be performed and people would not believe. After Jesus raised Lazerous from the dead, the religious leaders of the day, decided in their hearts to kill Him! Why were they not rejoicing over the clear evidence that Jesus was the Messiah? Because they wanted a different kind of Messiah, one that would serve their purposes and one that would glorify them before men.

God performs miracles with purpose and to glorify His name. We must pray with faith and the right motives. God answers prayer in the way that is best for us. If you have children you understand this point. Kids ask their parents for lots of things. Can you imagine giving your kids everything they ever ask for? A loving responsible parent would never do such a thing would they? God loves us and sees the end from the beginning. Sometimes the answer is yes, no or not now.

There are lessons to be learned while waiting on the Lord. He not only has our temporal earthly good in mind; moreover, our eternal good in mind.
Which to you is more important, the 70-80 years on this planet or eternity?

In the here and now look around you. Open your eyes to the miracles that happen everyday. Seek God first with all of your heart and all good things will be added unto you.
This does not mean that there will not be trials. God allows trials to sharpen our character. Again, there is an eternal perspective here. He also has to balance the good of many. If you have a large family or come from one, you know how difficult this must be.

If it were as easy as performing some miracles, then everyone would have believed in Jesus. The same holds true today. Choose not only to see miracles, praying for God to open your eyes and heart; also choose to be a part of miracles. Visit a sick person in a hospital, volunteer in an orphanage, speak a kind word to the down hearted. Would these not be miracles in such a hard and cold world. It is God who helps us do these things. Are we not by nature selfish; seeking our own gain and focused on our own problems? It is God's spirit within us that helps us want to do good. Yes, I know, someone will say, "Well, I knew of an atheist who was the kindest, most gentlest and giving person." Do you not know that in God's mercy the rain falls on the both the believer and non-believer? The sun rises for both and both benefit from the warmth the sun offers. God gives freely because that is who He is.

Oh, yes, miracles happen all the time. Keep praying, keep building your relationship with the Lord who loves you. The miracle of salvation is knocking at your door. How many a countless lives have been changed by Jesus. Reach out to Him. He is there waiting for you to trust your life to Him.
