I really love this passage & have come back to it time & time again throughout the last 11 years in my walk with Christ. I have typically read the translation in NIV which says (paraphrased): "Take every thought captive & make it obedient to Christ". This has been one of the staple verses for life. But as I return to it & read it in the Message, it really helps give me a fresh perspective on how we as Christ-followers wage war. I love how Eugene Peterson writes verse six:

"Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity."

This is the goal of my life. I want to build my life & help others build their lives not only in the area of obedience to Jesus but in maturing their lives to look like His as well.
