Spiritual Hunger
Man does not live by bread alone. Yes, he needs bread to live physically, but there is something far more important - the Word of God.
God's Word is the bread, the meat and potatoes, the rice and beans of our spiritual life. It provides everything we need to be spiritually connected to God. Everything we need to live a life in harmony with God.
Doctrine, instruction, correction, conviction, provision, encouragement, just to name a few. But just like our physical diets we must eat and drink regularly.
God's Word is not fast food or junk food. The world provides that with all of their entertainments.
God's word is milk, complete sustenance to the newborn.
God's word is meat, necessary for growth and strength.
Sometimes we can just reach in a grab a delicious piece of fruit, sweet to the soul and quickly digested.
Sometimes it requires more effort. We have to dig a little deeper, do a little more prep, chew harder and longer, and take more time to digest it.
It all depends on how hungry we are. How badly do we need it? How badly do we want it?
Either way we're weak or sick or dead without it.
We usually have three meals a day of physical food.
How often are we eating from God's Word?
