5 days missing - just imagine how Mary and Joseph felt, one day away from Jerusalem, whoops, we just lost our son, then one day back, then three days searching!
I cannot imagine the heartache and the stress of this loss, I have lost my daughter for about 10 mins in a shopping centre before and it is a terrible feeling. You don't know where they are, or what someone may have done.
But add to the stress of losing a child, the stress of losing the saviour of the world! Mary and Joseph knew their son was special - and now they had lost Him. What an incredible story.
This story always moves me - sometimes in confusion though - for it would almost seem as if Jesus was being callous, not caring for the emotional needs of His earthly parents.
This may have been an excellent lesson for the parents though - perhaps they had started to take Jesus for granted - like we do.
How many times do we go looking for Jesus and not find Him? We search the TV...not there, we search the internet...not there, we search the sporting field, the workplace....not there. But when we still our hearts and search the will of God and go to where God is....we find Jesus.
Stop searching for Jesus where he isn't...didn't you know I would be about the will of my Father? For me this is a wake up call - did we lose Jesus or did we just walk away full of our own self importance and just leave Him behind?
