Beyond the enemy

Elisha's servant saw only as far as the near enemy, saw no hope nor future. But the Lord opened his eyes so that he could see beyond the army that surrounded him--and in a wonderful irony, the Lord blinded the enemy so they couldn't see His people. As Jesus said in the synagogue in Nazareth, quoting from Isaiah 61, He came to open the eyes of the blind. Jesus opens our eyes to see hope of joy and hope of salvation and hope of triumph, even when all we see is the armies of darkness surrounding us.
