Faith vs Concerns
A concern is anything that causes you to worry or be preoccupied. We spend a great deal of energy on situations that are outside our control. So, how can you turn worldly concerns into God's concerns?
1. Identify your worries.
Make a list of the things you worry about. It could be the economy, a world tragedy, debt, loosing your job, other person's life, the car, the family, the neighbor, etc.
2. Categorize them.
Categorize the things you worry about into two main groups: things I can change and things I can't change.
3. Do something about them.
For the things that are outside your control, turn them over to God and say to yourself, 'I now let go of this situation and I stop worrying about it since it is in the hands of God and he will know what to do.' For the things that you can change, simply take action and make a difference. Action is the answer to worry.
Peter thought that he was doing the right thing however, he learned that sometimes best intentions are not enough. You will end up being concerned about things that you shouldn't. Trust in God for the big things and take action on everything else.
