Your Prayer Has Been Heard

How awesome would it be if Zechariah's prayer had been heard for the past 40 or so years, but simply because the child had to be named John (even though they had no one in the family named John, so that would be out of nowhere) and because John would be unique?

I can picture God, "Ok Zechariah, but I've got to give you some instructions about this child. Whenever your turn comes around to come see me in the Holy Place, I'll tell you about it. No hurry."

The duty that Zechariah was doing on this day was a once in a lifetime task for a Levite. They were trained on what to do. They were taught about the hundreds and hundreds of men that had gone before them, and the few that had gotten it wrong and died. It was probably the most regular and casual thing in the world - for the guys that didn't have to go in that day.

When Zechariah saw that angel, there is no question that he was fearful. Nobody was allowed in there except Zechariah, by penalty of death by the Living God (who usually acted pretty expediently).
The only reason anybody ever expected to see an angel in there would be out of judgement.

What the angel says next is even more unbelievable and amazing.
