A Preview of the Cross

It shows our sinful nature and our need for a savior. Our inability to be perfect gives reason for the faith in Christ as the one who fulfilled the Law. His death on the cross was acceptable because He was human (representing us) and God (only God is perfect and can fulfill the Law). And that is why trusting in Him and not in ourselves by the Spirit is the essence of true salvation.
