What's On Your Mind?

Sometimes I feel like a spiritual manic depressive. Like Peter, there are days when I get things gloriously right. "Who do men say that I am?" asks Jesus. "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Peter responds.

Great answer! Peter didn't get to this answer on his own. God showed it to him. A spiritually manic moment in the life of Peter. Well done.

Then only a few short verses later we find Peter correcting Jesus. Jesus had been teaching about His death and what would soon become of this marvelous movement the disciples had joined. "Jesus, you've got to stop talking like this," Peter says. "Talking about dying is no way to get people to join your cause."

Jesus' response is swift and simple. He rebukes Peter and tells him he is not mindful of the things of God, but of the things of men. Not one of Peter's finer moments.

I wonder where you are today? Are you mindful of the the things of God or the things of men? Are you boldly proclaiming who Christ is or quietly correcting Jesus as He tries to teach you something new?

Today, get to know God's Word and reshape the way you think. Let God be master of your mindfulness. You'll discover things like age, ability, and resources aren't the limiting factors you once feared them to be.
