the greater miracle
How interesting that so much scripture is given to the healing of this man's eyes. The reaction of those around seemed dazed and confused by how a blind man's eyes can be regenerated. Yet the greater miracle takes place after the storm of humanism passes. There in it's wake lies a healed man with a swollen heart. A heart unsatisfied with the miracle of sight. A heart that is in need of an object worthy of his affection and it is here that the miracle of all miracles takes place. A heart is regenerate, an object worthy of worship is unveiled as Jesus reveals himself to the man as the Messiah. It is here that this man comes in contact with the one who formed him and all the sin that broke fellowship with Him is now being restored in an instant as He confesses His need, desire to be Lorded over by Christ! Oh how we can miss this, as we wander in this world of sight as the greatest of all miracles will never be beheld by our eyes. In the absence of external reaction life is birthed, chains are loosed and men/ women are changed forever.
Father thank You for the clarity of this truth through scripture. Teach me to never become infatuated with what my eyes can chart as success but keep me ever dependent upon the work that happens apart from my vision. The act of faith that brung great delight to Your heart. Keep me ever moving towards the greater miracles. The miracles that birth life not a reaction from the crowd!
