Observation - Last Sunday my wife and I got the privilege of dedicating our baby girl to the Lord along with friends and family and in front of the members of the Church in attendance. The coolest part about that was that we were to pick out what we wanted to be a life verse for her, what truth it was that we wanted for her to live life by. This is exactly what David did here for Solomon. What better gift can a parent give to a child than to love them enough to plead to God for all great things to come to them. My daughter is constantly in my prayers. I ask God everyday to bless her in ways that I can not even fathom. I know that God will protect her and I know that even now as she is only 7 weeks that the blessings of the Lord are being heaped upon her, blessings that I can not even see, and that God's plan for her is incomprehensible to me and that is amazing.
Application - David was called a man after God's own heart and he set the example as to how we should pray for our children. I will follow that lead and I will not end a time of prayer without ending it with a prayer for my children and God's annointing for them.
Prayer - Hey God thank you for the example that you called David to be for those of us with children. I thank you for my kids, they are such a blessing. They have helped me grow in patience, understanding, and humility. I love them all and I thank you for them. I know that you have plans for each of them that I can not see so I plead that you would please lead them toward that in a way that causes joy. I love you and I am looking forward to talking with you again soon.
