Temptation


Take responsibility for your own sin.
a. God never tempts you to sin.
b. God is too holy to be tempted.
c. God is too loving to tempt others.

Temptation is source in the human heart.
a. Temptation involves an enticement to do evil.
b. Temptation is not sin itself. It's how you handle that thought.
c. We sin because we choose to, not because we have to.
d. You can minimize temptation by controlling the input.

Temptation Pattern
Desire -> Deceptions -> Disobedience = Death
emotions intellect will separation from God

Tip: focus on the end result of the temptation cycle.

Why would I yield to sin if God already saved me??
1. Jesus saves us from the "eternal" consequences of sin, but he does not save us from the "temporal" consequences of sin.
2. My sin inevitably affects others. prov 13:20
3. Yielding to sin in one area tends to desensitize us to sin in grosser areas.

SOLUTION
When faced with temptation, consider God's goodness and respond to God's truth.
Victory over sin, helps us focus on God's goodness.
